The Truth about ATCs and Artist Trading Cards

Artist trading cards existed long before the ATC era. Some were traded in the past, and some were sold. During the early 90's, I had purchased some of them by Boris, Frazetta, Rowena, and many others. Here are a few examples of these cards.

Please take note of the copyright dates on the backs of the cards.

Flamenco I - APC

Done in watercolor pencil and ink, this is an APC - artist postcard - painted in the 4"x6" size. I think I like the APC size better than the ATC size....at least, I like drawing and painting in the larger size.

Cassy and Violets

These were two ATC's that I made for a purple and yellow swap theme that I angeled. It was tough trying to come up with ideas for purple and yellow, but I guess I managed.

The girl was taken from a photo I came across online, and I cannot remember where I found it. I initially was going to do the portrait in black as it was in the photo, and I think I will still go back later and do that. This portrait does not really look exactly like her, as I changed the colors dramatically, including her hair, in order to keep with the color theme.

I would also like to find the girl in the pose, and ask her if it's ok to post this. If you are out there Cassy, please leave a comment if you have a problem with me using your likeness for the portrait, and I will remove it.
